Perfect and Cost-effective solution for our kitchen in RV!

We purchased our RV with 3M filter installed in our kitchen (under counter). The space is quite tight there and we were not looking forward to spending $50+ per filter. So, upon further research, we came across this filter that was an absolutely PERFECT solution for our troubles:1. 1/2 inch fittings are cheap at any big box hardware store. Some Teflon tape and it plugged in perfectly into our unit. Cost of fittings - about $4.2. Mounting bracket. Search Amazon for 729388726714 as a search string. You will come across product named "Water Filter Housing Mounting Bracket, Housing Bracket, Metal Housing Mounting Bracket for Big Blue 5'' 10'' and 20'' Filter Housings" You will need 4 1/4" screws - don't forget to get them at your big box store - about $1.3. The overall cost of all "additional" parts is about $13.4. The unit comes with a "regular" sediment filter. We purchased 2 "charcoal" filters and plan to replace the supplied filter with it later on.5. The unit comes with a tool to unscrew the tube (for filter replacement).Overall - great value and now we look forward to utilizing our $10/filter reasonably-priced charcoal filters vs. $50 branded nonsense.HIGHLY RECOMMEND for RV'ers and those DIY folks who want to save money, yet drink healthy water.A+

Check the filter housing for cracks otherwise good product

The purple filter was cracked. I have one unit at my place whicj works great and one at my mother's. Of course my mother's has to be the cracked one. Didn't find out until it was to late to return.

Superb Customer Support!

Had purchased 2 of these filter housings to install on our RV. Initially I had a problem with leaks where the NPT fittings screw in. Also I am not a plumber and usually loathe the process. Contacted Sean at iSpring, and he was able to quickly fix the problem. He also send me new housings just in case. This is top notch customer support! Many thanks to Sean and iSpring and have super filtration in my RV.

Bypass your refrigerator filter

Filters for my fridge cost $60 each! Every 6 months! And they lose pressure almost immediately. This and all the fittings and such together cost maybe $100. It'll pay for itself in a year. Didn't use the filters it came with as I wanted carbon. No big deal, this fits standard 10" whole house filters. $12/pair at the Depot. Instead of paying $120/year, it'll be $12/year. And now the pressure and flow at the fridge dispenser is much improved. And I could always upgrade to a fancier filter in the future. So far no complaints, I like that it comes with a wrench. Would like it better if it came with a mounting bracket. I used https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09NY1Z5B5 You'll need to get some screws too. #8 or #10 probably, shorties like 1/2". Fortunately the bolt pattern is fairly standard.I chose this one because it's clear so I can see what's going on inside (hopefully nothing!) and because it has 1/2" NPT connections. It's a little easier to find 1/2" male NPT to 1/4" push-to-connect adapters. Most of these have 3/4" which is totally unnecessary for a tiny 1/4" ice maker line. Recommend using PTFE paste, then tape, then paste again on the male NPT fittings. Not for this item particularly, but just as general life advice.Speaking of advice, I added a valve before the input side for easy shutoff to replace the filter. And then on the output side, I added a tee, one side to the refrigerator, and the other going down to another valve with only a 1" tube after that. After replacing the filter, I can open that valve and purge the first few gallons to get rid of the carbon dust, into a bucket. Very easily, without awkwardly taking several glasses of water from the fridge dispenser.

Leaked

The nylon fitting must have cross-threaded when installing but the unit leaked miserably. No amount of tightening resolved the issue. Had hopes but it just didn't work out.
